The publishing sector in the UAE

The publishing sector in the United Arab Emirates is on a continuous uptrend, also thanks to the training and tutoring programmes for the Country’s publishers, aimed at improving the working conditions and the legislation applicable to this sector by cooperating with the local institutions concerned with publishing, printing and distribution.

For years, Sharjah has represented the “cultural capital” of the Emirates. The International Book Fair, which takes place once a year, is acquiring growing relevance on the international scene thanks to the attention and commitment that the Emir H.E. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi dedicates to the publishing sector, the bulwark of culture worldwide, by fostering the purchase of royalties on books of history, literature, politics, art, science, and technology, in Arabic as well as in other languages.
