The cycle of digital meetings of Informazione&Formazione 4.0 resumes with the appointment “The publishing industry in the UAE: trends and opportunities for the Lazio supply chain and presentation of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF)”, on Thursday 1 July at 11.30 am.
The meeting is part of the actions that Lazio Region is putting into play in the runup to Expo2020Dubai and with a view to attending the Sharjah International Book Fair in November 2021.

The publishing industry in the Arab Emirates is in constant growth. This is also thanks to the training and tutoring programmes for the country’s publishers, aimed at improving the working conditions and regulations in this sector. This is also thanks to the cooperation with local institutions involved in publishing, printing and distribution.
Sharjah has for years represented the cultural capital of the Emirates. The International Book Fair takes place annually and is acquiring more and more momentum internationally thanks to the energy Emir H. H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi devotes to publishing, the spearhead of culture the world over, by encouraging the purchase of the rights of history, literature, politics, art, science and technology titles in Arabic and in other languages.

Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is an eleven-day culture and literature fair connecting authors and publishers the world over, fostering encounters to discuss current trends and potential business opportunities.
The fair was first set up in 1982 under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. His objective is to promote reading as standard practice among the young.
Today SIBF is the third largest book fair in the world. It is the most prestigious in the Arab world and the home of the most exciting literary event in the region. Every year the Fair brings the best world talents in the industry to the Middle East.
SIBF is a member and strategic partner of international organisations such as the Afro-Asian Publishers Association, the GCC Book Committee and the International Publishers Association.
