Italy Pavillion opening at Expo 2020 Dubai

A spectacular and totally sustainable Italy Pavilion was opened in the presence of Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister for Tolerance, Reem Al Hashimy Minister for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo Dubai, Noura Al Kaab, Minister for Culture and Youth of the United Arab Emirates and Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio.

Little more than five months away from the first Universal Exhibition in the Arab world, the three upturned hulls in green, white and red which form the Pavilion covering were displayed for the first time and sent on their maiden voyage baptized with a bottle of sparkling wine as a symbol of good fortune.

Then the Twin of David was unveiled, the final act of a hi-tech project entailing the cooperation of the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, the Minister for Culture and the Department of Civil and environmental Engineering of Florence University.

The ceremony was also attended by of Paolo Glisenti, Commissioner for Italy, Giampietro Massolo, President of Fincantieri, the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, the Pavilion designers Carlo Ratti and Italo Rota and the Artistic Director Davide Rampello, the Director of the Galleria dell’Accademia of Florence Cecile Hollberg and Professor Grazia Tucci of the University of Florence who guided the re-production project of Michelangelo’s masterpiece.
