BioPic among 11 Italian companies in Dubai as part of Global Start Up Program

BioPic, an Agritech and Space Farming startup hosted by the Lazio Region at the Spazio Attivo in Bracciano, is one of the 11 Italian companies that have been accepted by the Dubai Future Foundation as part of the second edition of the Global Start Up Program, the integrated development path abroad reserved for innovative startups engaged in the design and implementation of product or service innovations, and that intend to strengthen their technical, organisational and financial capabilities to address new markets.

The Global Start Up Program (GSUP) is a launching pad made available to the entrepreneurial inspiration of young Italian companies wishing to improve the effectiveness of their business model and increase their management and financial know-how, spending 8 weeks at some of the most qualified foreign accelerators to raise their levels of competitiveness in the heated international competition.

Dubai Future Foundation, one of the most structured and active governmental entities in the organisation of innovative programmes, has been selected by ICE Dubai to run the Global Start Up Program which, in its second edition, has landed for the first time in the United Arab Emirates as well as in nine other countries, Argentina, China, France, Germany, Japan, India, Israel, the United Kingdom and the USA, and has involved a total of 119 start-ups.

The 11 Italian startups in the UAE have been incubated since 21 February within the Dubai Future Accelerators programme, with the aim of developing their technical, organisational and financial capabilities through tailored workshops and activities and the involvement of international and local partners, thanks to mentoring sessions, networking events with investors, presentation and pitching events, business development, social and cultural activities, visits to local businesses and sites of interest, including the Innovation Lab of EXPO2020.

At the end of the ITA/ICE GSP programme for the internationalisation of Italian Startups, BioPic presented its innovative cultivation system that aims at resilience and circular economy through innovative cultivation and active purification of indoor environments with a plant system and special space-derived LED lamps, patented and certified also in Japan.

Following contacts with the Emirate of Dubai and the authorities of the Emirate of Sharja, Biopic designed a new type of greenhouse for desert cultivation that reduces energy and water requirements by up to 90%.
