Special “The Best in Lazio” by Gambero Rosso

Attached to the December issue of “Gambero Rosso” magazine, the special insert “The Best in Lazio” dedicated to the excellent food and wine products and typical products of our Region is now on newsstands.

The initiative and 10 typical Lazio video-recipes selected by Gambero Rosso will be discussed during the “Week of Italian Cuisine in the World”, in Dubai on 25th November at 6 pm (local time) at the Grand Millennium Hotel, in the conference “A Talk on Agrifood – La Cucina del Lazio nel Mondo. Scenarios and perspectives of the agro-industry chain. Tradition and Experimentation, Innovation and Sustainability”.

The event is part of the activities implemented by the Lazio Region to allow companies to seize the extraordinary opportunity to open up to new relations and internationalisation with the Arab and Asian worlds, North Africa and the entire Mediterranean basin, showcasing their cultural and production excellence and skills in strategic sectors of international and global innovation.

The Gambero Rosso “Best in Lazio” special dedicates space to two important initiatives of the Lazio Region in the agrifood sector: Food Innovation Hub and the Spazio Attivo Bracciano.

Food Innovation Hub is a programme aimed at supporting the processes of innovation and market diversification in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the agri-food sector in Lazio.
Lazio Innova and Arsial, as technical instruments of the Region, together with Agro Camera have a fundamental role in two aspects: on the one hand, to promote opportunities towards foreign markets through internationalisation actions; on the other hand, to create open laboratories available to companies to experiment and transform agri-food resources into productions with a high innovative content consistent with the new trends of the agri-food market such as nutraceuticals, organic products, short supply chain, food safety.
The first edition involved 49 partners from the world of research, academic institutions and trade associations, and saw the participation of about 1,000 companies. The result was a total of 76 ideas presented, 46 projects developed and, in the end, 30 prototypes launched on the market.

In terms of innovative services for agricultural businesses, Spazio Attivo Bracciano is a hub around which those involved in the partnership revolve: trade associations, stakeholders, universities and research institutions. Spazio Attivo hosts business projects and startups active mainly in the agrifood and forestry supply chains: there are several incubation laboratories dedicated to go-to-market startup strategies.
Spazio Attivo Bracciano is also home to FabLab Lazio, a shared space equipped not only with innovative equipment and technologies in which makers, designers and students can create prototypes and objects but also the Digital Kitchen Lab, the first regional collaborative space dedicated to food innovation.
This last is equipped with high-tech workstations and machinery designed to provide inspiration and ideas to those who intend to hone their skills and become innovative chefs, a place for research and sharing where exchange and dialog involves the entire agri-food supply chain.
