As part of the Festival “Movie Nights”, the Amphitheatre of the Italy Pavilion hosts the screening of the film “Pinocchio” by director Matteo Garrone, which has received 2 Oscar nominations, 9 awards and 16 nominations in Italy and abroad.
The French-Italian co-production was co-financed by the Lazio Region through the Lazio Cinema International Call for Proposals, a new tool conceived 7 years ago to strengthen Lazio’s audiovisual leadership on a national and European level and to open our territory to the world thanks to the strength of cinema and audiovisuals.
The Lazio Cinema International programme aims at fostering partnerships between our film companies and foreign audiovisual companies, but also at building bridges with other countries through culture and promoting the beauty of our territory.
Since 2016, the Lazio Region has invested around € 53 million on this new tool, with which 133 co-productions including films, TV series, documentaries, animation films have been co-financed. As many as 188 foreign production companies, representing 29 countries, were involved in the processing of audiovisual products.
Lazio Cinema International has been a great and successful innovation, which has helped to give birth to many quality works, as demonstrated by the 313 Awards and 382 Nominations in national and international Festivals collected over the years.
