On 7 and 8 October, during the first thematic week, which is dedicated to Climate Change and Biodiversity, the Italian Pavilion will hold an international forum on mountains with the Bureau of Expo Dubai and the FAO Mountain Partnership.
This was announced by the Italian Commissioner General for Expo Dubai, Paolo Glisenti, during the meeting “Mountains, a new beginning” which also saw the presence of Mariastella Gelmini, Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomies with delegated powers for mountains, and mountain stakeholders at UNIMONT, the pole of excellence of the University of Milan decentralised in Edolo, a small town in the Alps.
According to the Commissioner: “Our intention is to facilitate the emergence of new international collaboration networks to protect mountain communities, highlighting the best practices of sustainability and resilience developed in our inland territories. We want to show that value can also be produced by acting from the ‘mountain’ dimension, by investing in a clear vision, good organisation, the use of technology and above all the enthusiasm of the young people, researchers and students who animate the mountains”.
