Concert: “Connections”

Concert of the JuniOrchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conductor Simone Genuini

Amphitheatre – Italy Pavilion
20 November 2021

The JuniOrchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia is an orchestra of 125 musicians between 15 and 20 years old.

Under the expert guidance of conductor Simone Genuini, the talented youngsters of Santa Cecilia performed a concert entitled “Connections”.
The programme united composers of different ages and nationalities in space and time and included unforgettable pieces from the classical repertoire: after a fitting tribute to the great Austro-German symphonic tradition (with pieces by Mozart and Beethoven) and to the Italian opera (with Bellini’s Norma and Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana), the concert ended with a symphonic selection from Bernstein’s West Side Story, a piece capable of unleashing the overwhelming and contagious energy of this young orchestra.

The event was promoted by Lazio Region.
